RIM has announced its new device, the Blackberry Torch.
It’s a slider form factor with an underlying QWERTY keyboard.

RIM has also launched the new version of the Blackberry operating system, Blackberry OS 6.

RIM has conducted the product launch in an Apple-esque way and this style of product launch is something new for the company seeking to move into the mass consumer market.

RIM is doing well enough in the enterprise sector but it clearly sees that the ever growing smartphone user base is something that they need to tap in order to gain a stronger foothold against its main competitors, Apple and Google.
