“I don’t want to grow up, cause maybe if I did, I wouldn’t be a Toys R’Us kid.”

Well, it appears that Toys R’Us has grown up and will now be selling the iPad2.

This is a truly devious marketing strategy by Apple. And why, you many ask.

Well, selling the iPad2 at Toys R’Us outlet will target the young children and early teens and thus expose them to the idea of the tablet computer. If these children do not know better, they might consider the iPad as the only tablet computer on the planet and will thus grow with the device(at least, that’s what Apple hopes). This may just increase and consolidate the Apple’s mindshare in the consumer’s market.

There is no clear winner in the tablet sector at present and the battle may just be fought out through effective distribution models. Apple may hope to edge out its competitors through a widespread distribution model.

I wonder what Geoff the Giraffe would have to say about this.
